Florence Area Humane Society Rescue Dog Saves Owner’s Life One Month After Adoption
July 19, 2023Honor Bob Barker's Legacy by answering this urgent call!
CRISIS SITUATION
Friends of the shelter, your help is needed more today than ever!
We have long since passed the point of crisis and need urgent help. The shelter is full.
We are unable to take any more animals and are having to turn strays and abandoned animals away. Rescues have long waiting lists.
The Florence Area Humane Society and the animal shelter staff are overwhelmed daily with calls from people who want to surrender their pets or who have found animals in desperate circumstances. Many of them will end up dumped or abandoned or left to fend for themselves, but we have no more space.
We have animals in crates at the shelter, doubled up in kennels and cages, in foster homes, in overflow spaces and even in stalls at our horse rescue. Our hearts are breaking.
At the core of it, though, we are feeling the effects of overcrowding from a lack of spayed and neutered animals - the very thing Bob Barker reminded us of for decades. Unfettered breeding has led to an increase in the already desperate animal population.
We are working tirelessly to save the animals of our community and to re-open a low-cost spay and neuter clinic in our area. We need a veterinarian on staff at our shelter to help us save more animal lives both within our facility and in our city and county. Low-cost veterinary services could keep pets in homes.
We don’t have time to wait. Lives depend on US.
WE NEED HELP NOW or difficult decisions will have to be made about the future of our animals

Let's Find Help for Willow and Friends!
She came to the shelter as a stray with a deformed leg. The vet recommended amputation so the shelter helped. She is a happy, friendly dog who loves people and other dogs. She is four months old. Her story is only too common and she has lots of friends who need help too!
These pictures are heartbreaking and real! Every day brings more suffering animals. Not only is our space exceeded capacity but so have our staff, and volunteers! We are exhausted but hopeful that you'll answer our plea.
Bob -we won't let you down!
Thanks for fighting the good fight for animals in need!
