About The Florence Area Humane Society

Our Mission

The Florence Area Humane Society was founded in 1974 as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit charitable organization that rescues and shelters abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in the Florence community. The mission of FAHS is to rehabilitate them, provide appropriate medical care, and place them in forever, loving homes, ensuring happiness for both pet and owner. We promote adoptions as well as seek animal rescues to find suitable placement for the almost 2000 animals we take in annually.

The Florence Area Humane Society relies heavily on the community to support our life-saving work. Dedicated volunteers are crucial to ensure our animals receive one-on-one interaction as well as loving medical care. Volunteers assist with our programs, fund-raising efforts and humane services. From in-shelter activities to at-home foster care, volunteers work diligently to make Florence a more compassionate place for animals in need.

Our Mission

Our veterinary and medical expenses are substantial due to the horrific conditions of many of the animals who come in our doors from abused and neglected situations. Often, surgery is needed to restore the animal to a healthy life. Vaccines, medicine, food, and a nurturing environment are vital components of daily care. Financial donations are essential to our organization’s ability to carry out its mission every day and are tax deductible as allowed by law. Every gift helps and every donation matters as we work to save Every One.
